JOHN NORDIN, of Sugar Land, born January 2, 1942, loving husband, devoted dad, and worshipped grandfather, entered God's Kingdom on Saturday, May 1, 2004. John was a loyal employee of Texas Instruments for thirty years, before his retirement. He was presently employed with On Target Supplies & Logistics. Many friendships were formed during his thirty-five years in the area, and were deeply cherished by John. He was a member of Lexington Boulevard Baptist Church and the Houston Gun Collectors Association. John's daughters will treasure him for the moral values, fatherly love, and guidance that he exhibited with the special gentleness and sense of humor that was unique only to him. He truly adored his grandchildren, and was a devoted family man all his life. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Nordin; and his beloved brother-in-law, Danny Hooper. Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Patricia; daughters, Sandy Stock of Sugar Land, Lynda Greenfield of Idaho, and Lorrie Thomas of Kingwood; mother, Norma Alley and her husband Dent; brother, Robert Nordin and his wife Donna of Wisconsin; grandchildren, LCPL Christopher Stephens - USMC (Iraq), Nicholas Stephens, Jacob Stock, Kyle Greenfield, Stephanie Stevens, and Kelly Stock; sisters-in-law, Glynda Payne and her husband Paul of Beaumont, and Mary Hooper and daughter, Pamela of Carrolton, TX; brothers-in law, Al Hooper and his wife Rhea of Hilltop Lakes, TX, and Darrell Hooper and his wife Connie of Carrolton, TX; and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation: Tuesday, May 4, 2004, 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Earthman Southwest Chapel, 12555 South Kirkwood, Stafford. Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 5, 2004, 11:00 AM, Earthman Southwest Chapel, Rev. Drew Garner and Ray Gillaspie, officiating. Interment: Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers will be his close friends and colleagues, Gary Freudensprung, Julio Olvera, Al Copeland, Ken Toedter, Roy Flora, and Bill Westfall. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jerry Simmons, Nicholas Stephens, Al Hooper, Paul Payne, Byron Nicholas, Jared Smith, Charles Johnson, Darrell Hooper, and Sam Poss.
