Douglas Thornton Tiller
Tiller, Douglas Thornton Was born in Dallas on March 22, 1942. He passed away in Corsicana, TX., March 7, 2009 after a bravely fought battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Fay Tiller and his mother, Enola Thornton Tiller Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 3 years, Rise Carmen Tiller of Blooming Grove, TX. He is also survived by 1 sister, Gayre Tiller King/Trippett, 1 brother in law Carl S. Trippett of Irving, 1 brother, Bartley Paul Tiller & 1 sister in law, Kathy Tiller of Midlothian. Douglas graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1960. He attended UTA for a few years before being drafted in to the US Army for 3 years where he served in Kaiserslautern, W.Germany. After his stint in the military he worked at American Optical for 2 years. In 1970 he started working in the dry cleaning business, eventually becoming the President of his father's chain of dry cleaners in Dallas, Irving, & Euless. He & his brother continued to run the business after his father's death until the company was sold in 1989. During semi-retirement he raised cattle on a farm in Navarro County from 1981-2000. After full retirement he kept busy with the Navarro Country Livestock Committee, Farm Bureau, & The Historic Society.
